Ladywood Circus
Ladywood Circus defines the southwest corner of Ladywood, this major junction on the Middleway has lots of redundant ex-highways land where new homes can be built, in this case owned by the council, along with the airspace over the leisure centre car park. Here we're showing a tall block on a section of the closed off Monument Road with a shorter sister block above the Leisure Centre car-park framing the centre itself. The design of the 125 TopHuis homes ensures there is no loss of the existing parking spaces.
The council can build our deign as council homes or as housing association homes, or sell it to a developer or the local community. The design provides lots of communal space for neighbours to meet and grow plants in their 'front gardens' as well as harvesting vegetables in the vertical allotments. The planners may ask us to reduce the tower, but we think this key landmark location with long views in all directions defining the South West corner of Ladywood will provide much needed affordable and market homes for Birmingham residents, workers or students.
If the local community end up with the site, send us an email if you would like to live in one of these or a similar home in central Birmingham.
